I have a pretty good supply of those and "GI" 40's production carbine mags. I used to buy them by the dozen for <$20 apiece. I have no idea why Checkmate mags aren't available anymore. I know I don't have anything like what they are selling now.
I believe I may have purchased Checkmate mags from CDNN for cheap but I'm not sure. I have experience with their Sig magazines and they're Sig OEM from the same plant in Italy. Your post did however give me some doubt about the mags I linked to and it appears I was wrong. All are Checkmate and none have cage codes. All are identical in every way except maybe springs.
